Early Years
EYFS Curriculum Information
We believe that every child is ‘unique’. Children are encouraged to be strong, independent and confident learners. The EYFS environment is set up with continuous provision and enhanced provision. This includes both the inside and outdoor areas. The continuous provision can be accessed during their ‘busy learning’ time. These are the resources that are always in the provision, such as; pencils, paper, construction, maths equipment etc. Enhanced provision are the activities that are set up by the adults for children to try, this extends their learning. We encourage the children to access the provision independently, however, adults support their ideas by playing with them, asking questions, trying new things together and prompting new vocabulary.
The Early Learning Goals
In Reception we work towards the 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs). These are goals or targets that children are expected to achieve at the end of their Reception year. They are broken up into 7 areas of learning.
Guided Tasks
During the year there will also be guided activities, this is mainly in literacy and numeracy. We will teach the children a skill and then support them to use this. For example; writing words and sentences. This will go into their personal ‘learning journey’ book.
