Art & Design: Our Key Documents
Our Art & Design Intent - The Roots of our Art & Design Curriculum
Our art and design curriculum intent is linked to our school values and sets out the core principles of our curriculum.
Loving
We encourage children to have a passion in the making of art and express their ideas creatively to reach their final creations (painting, drawing, sculpture).
Our children are able to share their work in a positive environment where they can evaluate their own and each other’s art and suggest where improvements can be made.
Inspirational
We spark curiosity by teaching children about new artists and skills, this prompts passion and enthusiasm for the arts. Children are encouraged to try their best and create meaningful pieces they are proud to share.
Fun
Our curriculum allows children a safe environment to try new things with a range of different media. Children build their confidence through their expression and creativity.
Children have opportunities to respond to works by famous artists.
Educational
We aim to equip our children with the skills and knowledge they need to develop their creative abilities.
Pupil voice is an important part of our curriculum allowing us to reflect upon our art and design curriculum.
