Friends of Sawtry Infant School (FOSISA)

FOSISA

Welcome to the Friends of Sawtry Infant School Association (FOSISA) section of the school website. We hope that you will find the pages here informative.

Our FOSISA committee is and has been an integral part of the school community for many years.  In its time FOSISA has raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children's education experience and the school's facilities. Some of the things FOSISA has funded include: outdoor maths and phonics equipment, iPads for use during computing lessons, kitchen equipment, a water wall, an interactive whiteboard, subsidising school trips and paying for fun curriculum based workshops for the children… to name but a few!

Our school now has 183 children who will all directly benefit from the funds we raise.  We plan to continue with our popular events over this academic year, including:  a Christmas shopping event, discos, mini competitions and a summer fayre, as well as others that we may not have thought of yet!  However, the purpose of FOSISA is much more than simply fundraising.  It exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents/carers, governors and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It is fun too - just ask any of the current committee members or our valued helpers.  All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available.  All families are automatically members of FOSISA when their child joins our school.  We are extremely conscious of the welcoming and inclusive ethos of our school, and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this.

The team meet on a regular basis, usually once per term, with smaller working groups meeting as necessary when we are planning larger events.  Our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held at the beginning of the Spring Term, on Thursday 19th January 2023 and will provide an opportunity for all parents and school staff to come along and hear in more detail about the work of FOSISA.  It is also the occasion when we elect our new committee members, set the calendar for the year and decide what our fundraising focus will be.  At the moment we are raising money to provide the children with large scale climbing equipment.  You can simply come along to support the AGM and give us your ideas for fundraising events, join the committee or offer to be an event helper.

On behalf of all the pupils, we would like to thank you for your very valuable support, which enriches their learning experience and makes their time in school so enjoyable.
