Welcome
Welcome from Our Headteacher Mrs Trace!
Hello and a huge welcome to our school website from Sawtry Infant School, where our motto is ‘be happy, be caring and always do your best.’
We are a growing two form entry infant school catering to families of 4-7 year olds in the large village of Sawtry, along the A1(M) corridor between Peterborough and Cambridge.
We are a kind and enthusiastic team of professionals who believe in putting the individual child at the centre of what we do across the curriculum.
At Sawtry Infant School our values are underpinned by LIFE learning, where learning is Loving, Inspirational, Fun and Educational. We ensure that learning is real, thought provoking, relevant and retainable to children who are at the very beginning of their educational journey. We pride ourselves in providing the best possible start for our young learners.
If you would like to come and visit our amazing school then please contact the school office to find out more and please check our regularly updated website for more information.

Welcome from Our Chair of Governors
I thought I should take the time to introduce myself as the Chair of Governors at Sawtry Infants School.
My name is Diane Kutar and I am the curate at All Saints’ Church in Sawtry. I am married with a teenage son and have previously served on two other primary school governing bodies and a secondary school governing body. In a previous life I was a secondary school teacher.
I spend most of my time in the village and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet many of the residents and people who live and work in Sawtry. Sawtry is a wonderful place to raise a family and as the school continues to reach out with its community involvement post-pandemic, I hope I get to meet more of you.
We are close to having a full governing body with a number of people stepping forward recently which is excellent news, but if you do feel you have something to offer and want to get involved do please get in touch with me. If anybody would like to join our board or would like further information about the commitment, I would be more than happy to answer your questions.
Don’t just have an opinion, have a say, get involved!
What do Governors at Sawtry Infants do
The Governing Body has three specific roles; these are:
· To be strategic
· To act as critical friend in the development of the school
· To be accountable to the whole school community
As Governors we also share a common objective with the wider school community which is ensuring that every child can succeed and reach their full potential. To achieve this, and to carry out our role as Governors effectively, we need to know what issues are important to you (so we remain responsive) and ensure that you know what issues Governors are discussing (so that we remain accountable). That is why as Governors we work closely with the headteacher and staff to ensure that we continue to deliver a high standard of education to our children at Sawtry Infants.
We are very fortunate to have an excellent team of governors with a variety of experience to bring to the table. We may differ in our opinions and experiences, but we are united by our commitment to the school and the responsibility we share for the school’s long-term success. All relevant information is included on the school’s website.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and to assure you that I am committed to, and very proud of, our school and I will continue working with Mrs Trace and the staff team, governors, parents and pupils as we all together strive to make Sawtry Infants an Outstanding School.
With best wishes
Diane Kutar, Chair of Governors
