Our PSHCE Intent - The Roots of our PSHCE Curriculum
Our PSHCE curriculum intent is linked to our school values and sets out the core principles of our curriculum.
Loving: Our children are inspired to explore and respect the values held by different cultures and groups within our local community. Providing opportunities to explore, clarify and if necessary challenge, their own and others values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities. We promote the development of positive attitudes and encourage honesty and respect in all relationships. We teach children to recognise, understand and know how to deal with our own feelings and those of others.
Inspirational: We support our children in their development of resilience, self-esteem and aspiration. We encourage our children to try their best and teach them how to overcome challenges.
Fun: Our curriculum enables the children to develop their knowledge of health and wellbeing; this includes their mental and physical health. We take part in children’s mental health week to promote this. We aim to equip or children with the information, skills and values to understand and to be able to cope with physical and emotional changes.
Educational: Our school uses the Cambridgeshire Personal Development Programme. This allows our children to learn new skills and embed these through the progression in each year. We prioritise each area of the programme to meet the needs of our children. Our Tuesday Class assemblies link to the learning that is needed in our own classes.
